Evidence architecture

Methodology

H2Optic’s authority should come from traceable sources, explicit reference types and careful language—not from a proprietary score.

Measurement first. Context second. Conclusions with limits.

We keep raw reported values and units, normalize a copy for comparison, and preserve the origin, method, reporting limit, date and sampling context.

This first pass establishes the architecture. Factual records require source-level editorial review and live citations before production publication.

01

Identify the record

Analyte, canonical slug, original value and unit, detection limit, lab, method, date and location.

02

Match references

Federal regulation, state standard and health reference are stored separately, each with authority and effective date.

03

Explain evidence

Established finding, regulatory standard, association, emerging evidence or unresolved / insufficient evidence.

Source hierarchy

Primary sources lead.

Primary
EPA, CDC, NIH, USGS, state environmental and health agencies, and peer-reviewed research.
Secondary
Major universities, recognized research institutions and reputable scientific reviews.
Not primary
Affiliate companies, filter manufacturers and marketing blogs do not establish health conclusions.
Unit architecture

Original units are never discarded.

The model anticipates mg/L, µg/L, ng/L, ppm, ppb and ppt. Conversions require analyte-aware assumptions, recorded precision and a visible normalized unit. “Parts per” shorthand and mass-per-volume values are not silently treated as identical in every context.
